Basic Envelope - Figure No.3
On this one I drew the envelope first, added a few other guide lines, then attempted to draw the figure in using straight lines. Even on the ones that appear curved, I tried to draw them in straight increments so they appear more curved. I also used a proportional divider to help locate points after the basic envelope was in place. The figure si just a bit less than 9" high.

Basic Envelope - Figure No.1
Basic Envelope: On paper the figure is about 8" high. I sketched it, enclosed it in an envelope, then compared it to my model, after which I had to correct the location of her right foot as you can detect in the drawing. I can see another location error as well (her right arm; close, but not right). My sketch reminds me of Degas' bathers. Very valuable exercise: this is a tool for constant use.

"Dawn" - 8" x 10-1/2" - Pastel on Wallis Paper
I've reposted this one, "Dawn," after studying up and applying digital photography procedure. This was shot indoors lit with daylight, using a Canon SX150 IS set manually for white balance and exposure. I then did a bit of post processing to match the photo to the painting as closely as possible... big improvement over the one posted previously.

Design & Value Sketch - 8" x 8" - Oil on Canvas Panel
Working out the design of the next painting... The idea is to make it more abstract with less detail than some of my previous work. So far, I like it ... needs a bit more work
