Yet another block study. I painted this one with a knife instead of brushes, which for me forces a more painterly surface.

This one is a little different than my previous block studies in that it was done in overcast conditions, the sky is totally overcast today in Los Angeles.

The set-up was lit with an incandescent spot just out of the photo to the above-left.  The red block was not going well, so I did a couple of studies of only the red block to work out the basic colors before repainting it in the block study itself.  That little side road really helped.
